At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Türkiye, and under the coordination of H.E. VICTOR TCHATCHOUWO, Ambassador of Cameroon to Türkiye, a Cameroonian Delegation led by the Director General of the National Archives of Cameroon, Mrs. ESTHER OLEMBE, paid a working visit to Türkiye, (Istanbul), from 02 to 05 December 2024.
The high point of this visit was the signing of the Cooperation Protocol between the National Archives of the Republic of Cameroon and the Directorate of State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, at the end of the bilateral audience with Mr MUHAMMET AHMET TOKDEMIR, Director of State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. The delegation was also taken to the headquarters of the Istanbul Archives Centre for a guided tour of the institution's facilities and infrastructure.
The signing of this legal instrument, which strengthens the legal architecture for cooperation between the two countries, will enable the institutions in charge of archives in both countries to develop joint action covering a wide range of activities, including exchanges of professionals, knowledge sharing, technical assistance, training and the implementation of joint programmes, among others.
At the end of her working visit to Türkiye, Mrs ESTHER OLEMBE was received at the Cameroonian Embassy in Ankara and took part in the lunch offered in her honour by H.E. VICTOR TCHATCHOUWO, Cameroon's Ambassador to Türkiye.
